Starting Over

Welcome to my new blogging home.

I’ve been writing for well over a decade. I’ve been blogging for about three years. Unfortunately in the last eighteen months, I’ve forgotten how to do both.

I’ve tried to break out of my creative funk—and over the last two months I’ve had a modicum of success with the writing—but every time I’d think about my blog I’d see the date of my last post and get depressed. So I decided that a change of scenery would be nice.

So I’ve closed my old blog (I won’t be deleting it, but there will be no more posts and I’ve closed all comments), redesigned it from top to bottom, and started this blog with a clean slate, and a promise to myself to blog t least 5 times each week.

I had a little fun with this design—the theory being that the lighthearted design will make it more fun for me to come back each day.

So have a look around. At the top of the sidebar you’ll find links to my stories, some information about heraldry (another hobby of mine), and some vague facts about my family.

So, what do you think?

Oh, and if you came here from my old blog, be sure to update your RSS feed.

  1. Very impressive Dale. I love the cartoon at the top .. particularly relevant today when I’ve managed to procrastinate for an entire day from writing.

Looks like I’m the first one here – though I doubt it will be quiet for long. I’m looking forward to reading lots more of your musings here.

Congrats on your wonderful new site/blog.

  2. Love the look, Dale. It’s really fun and if you don’t write in it and make put some meat on its bones, I will hunt you down and flog you alive.

Seriously, don’t think about it too much. Write about what’s on your mind. Write about what’s happening in the world and your thoughts on it. Tell a joke. Talk about something that irritates you. Write a letter to your loved ones. Remember, this YOUR journal and someday, your loved ones will read it. What do you want them to take away from it? WHO is this Dale person, anyway?

Only you can answer that, my friend. Welcome back to the blogging world – don’t forsake us again. *grin*

  3. I just went through the same thing with writing and blogging. I started writing long-hand with my beloved levenger fountain pen. Then I deleted my blog and started from scratch and it feels wonderful. I’d be writing more on the blog if it wasn’t for Nanowrimo month.
I like your new design… very original.

  4. D.C. I like the new look, and the comic on your header made me laugh. So true! Only a writer would understand. πŸ˜€

I’ve been through the whole “forgotten how to write” process, and I can assure you recovery is possible. The more you stick down on the page, the easier it gets. You may even discover you’ve learned something, or at least absorbed more of what you learned, during the hiatus. πŸ™‚
